Bookplates, anyone?
I love Michelle Caplan's Etsy shop, but her prices are a bit out of range for a humble student like me. She makes beautiful mixed media collages using vintage memorabilia centered around a particular portrait.
This piece, for example, is called Albert.
However, she is now producing adorable bookplates with images of her pieces at a much more affordable price. Bookworms of the world, rejoice!

Plus you could just frame a print and it would look rather fab - and be cheaper. Another amazing artist you should look up is Carol at the blog Paris Breakfasts. I really think her paintings will soon go from $95 to $3000 as more people find out about her.
Very true...I do love their prints, and I'm especially enamored with her Agnes print...if you saw last month's Fornasetti post you'd know why! As for Paris Breakfasts - I totally *love* that blog. I discovered it after it turned up on the Domino Blog and I now vist everyday, just to drool. Thanks for commenting!
What technique does Michelle use to superimpose the photographs on to her work? I would love to know.
