The Captain's Messenger

I've been ogling this Anthopologie bag for awhile now, and it's finally on sale! You know how I am about bags... and buttons...

Josef Frank "to go"

I just can't stop going back to the Svenskt Tenn website and sighing over these totes.

My only quibble is that I wish they offerd more textile options for the bags. They carry so many fabulous textiles by Frank in their store...
On the top of my wishlist? Definitely Gröna fåglar.

Oh, Gröna fåglar, you're so dreamy.

Sale Bags on Parade

I noticed some fabulous accessories on sale at Anthropologie - I know, I know, this is really turning into an Anthropologie blog, though others do it better than me.

This cute sunny pochette is $39.95, marked down from $78. The color is right on trend, if that's your thing.

Don't you love the fact that this bag is really two bags in one? I like the details of the round gold button thingys. $299.95, marked down from $578.

I seriously debated whether or not to get this Ananas bag when I was on the hunt for a new one last month (I ended up with this beauty - in black - which was on sale at Shopbop). Now it's on sale for $299.95, marked down from $498. The grey color and interesting shape, as well as the adorable huge wooden button, lend it major points.

Meet its precious younger sister, which is on sale for $149.95 (from $288).

I posted lovingly about this Hayden Harnett tote last month...and now it's on sale! $249.95 marked down from $528.

Buttons Galore!

It seems like buttons are just the thing for next fall. I'm totally loving them. Not only do they keep your clothes together, they can be aesthetically pleasing as well! My button craze started with this bag from Betsey Johnson:

Before it moved into full-fledged fashion week territory. See:

Chris Benz

The buttons really add interest to this grey shirtdress from adam + eve.

And you may remember this fab trench from Alexandre Herchcovitch

A few (somewhat) more affordable buttoned-up items:
This military-inspired bag from Cynthia Rowley:

I love the fact that these leggings from LaRok have this extra detail, which makes them a bit more interesting than usual...however, $50 ($98 originally!) is a bit too much to spend on leggings which are (hopefully) on their way out.

Finally, an etsy boutique called Wired Vintage creates jewelry from vintage buttons.
These bakelite earrings are fun:

And I think this chunky bracelet is great:

Well, the groundhog says it's spring...

What a nice thing to open my inbox to! Hayden Harnett, one of my favorite indie bag brands, is having a nice little spring cleaning sale. Discounted styles include one of my favorites, the Nico XX of buttery smooth leather fame. It's only discounted in two colors, silver and currant but I'm totally digging the latter:

It's such a lovely rich shade. And you can't beat the price!
To bad it won't keep me warm. I've started looking at all of the fur-clad ladies (none so fabulous as this looker) with undisguised envy)...when political correctness and any and all feeling for animal rights has gone down the drain, you know it's pretty freaking cold. At this point, I think I'd wear a coat made from the dead rats you sometimes see in my alley if I thought it would keep me warm.

OK, maybe I'm not that desperate yet. And it looks like warmer weather is on its way...well, slightly warmer weather. So maybe the rats won't be necessary - but I'll let you know. At least I haven't been quite desperate enough to pull out my old North Face puffer.

FYI: The low in Chicago for today was 9 degrees below zero, farenheit.
And yes, I know my jokes were in bad taste =)

Recycle Much?

So, in the spirit of the whole global warming craze that's hit the country, I thought I'd join in and mention this adorable grocery bag that's available for preorder from Anya Hindmarch:

See, you can be stylish and environmentally conscious!
The kicker is the price - $10. What's not to love?

Preorder here.

This reminds me, I still need to rent An Inconvenient Truth.

Get Me Some Hayden Harnett!

Can I just express my deepest, tenderest love and affection for the Steamer Satchel at Anthropologie?

I love the shade, which is this beautiful, indefinable smoky green hue. I also love the distinctive shape, and its size - it's a pretty roomy bag. Pretty much anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm the proverbial girl who likes her bags to hold everything but the kitchen sink (and sometimes even that!).

The Steamer Satchel is by one of my favorite new bag brands, Hayden Harnett. I saw one of their other bags, the Nico XX in this gorgeous lemon yellow and the leather was just to die for - it was soft as butter, no joke.

Sigh.

Bag Lust

OK, I have to say, bags are my weakness...

and I've been obsessing over this one for weeks now. At least I'm rather justified, as Jessica over at Shiny Squirrel has the hots for it as well.

Oh Anna Corinna, why dost thou tempt me?
