Weekly Vintage Roundup - Arrangement in Red, Blue and Yellow

Inspired by the Tate's Mondrian painting, above, I decided to show some fun primary-colored vintage pieces this weekend, along with some equally fun modern accessories. The primary colors (pure red, yellow and blue) are great for adding a punch of color to an otherwise classic wardrobe. It would be difficult to pair all three of them together, though it can be done - see an example from The Sartorialist below! For beginners, I recommend a single dose of a primary color with more subdued tones like black or white.


First up is this vibrant red dress from Indie Cult Vintage. What really makes it is that fantastic neckline, with built-in bling! I would stay away from wearing jewelry with this one - the dress itself is all you need.


Next up is this fun blue sweater shrug from Fabulous Vintage Shoes Boutique. It looks great as shown, with jeans.


The last vintage piece is this yellow new wave sweater from Mouse Vox Vintage. I love the loose cut - it looks so comfy! Wear it with slim cut jeans or black cigarette pants.


As for accessories...
This red patent Tory Burch bag, recently seen on Anne Hathaway, is a fun way to tote library books or work files.


I love this blue Botkier satchel. Its crisscross design is interesting without being too busy, and I love the combination of dark blue patent with a lighter cobalt leather.


I first spotted the yellow Nico XX bag from Hayden Harnett at my local Anthropologie. It's extremely roomy (bordering on huge) and the buttery soft leather is absolutely gorgeous. And the banana shade is fun and unexpected.

I love to comb ebay for vintage fashion finds, despite the likelihood that it won't be in my size and/or price range. Admit it - it's fun to look! I'm very careful about what I buy and rarely bid (I have to really, really want it and the price must be right) but I love to look. There are some really great vintage shops on e-bay that generally update every week, and I thought I might introduce you to some of them.


I love this teal tweed coat from Swan Vintage. The shape is perfect and so of-the-moment, especially that high collar...and I am currently obsessed with that shade of teal. Plus I can recommend them from personal experience - Tara has a fantastic eye and she ships so quickly.


I lurve the print on this gorgeous maroon dress from bleubird vintage, possibly the best-known vintage shop on ebay (for good reason!). And you must check out this interview of the woman behind bleubird at fashion is spinach.


Thriftwares always has really great finds - usually of the clothing variety, but this week they're showcasing vintage jewelry. How fun is this elephant pendant?


This 1960s swing coat is super-chic, don't you agree? The covered buttons and the gorgeous moss green velvet are especially perfect. From MouseVox Vintage.
